Why HealthWiky exists
Most health information in English is written for people who already understand medicine. Search for what a test result means, or why a doctor prescribed two tablets instead of one, and you get either a research paper or a page trying to sell you something.
HealthWiky is an attempt to fill that gap: healthcare knowledge in simple English, useful to someone with no medical training, covering diseases, medicines, symptoms, medical tests, hospitals, health tips and real patient experiences.
How we write
- Plain English first. If a sentence needs a medical dictionary, it gets rewritten.
- Sources on every medical page. We cite recognised sources such as the World Health Organization and India's national health programmes, and we link to them so you can check for yourself.
- Honest review status. Every clinical page shows who reviewed it and when. Where a page has not yet been reviewed by a qualified doctor, it says so plainly instead of leaving you to assume it has been.
- India-relevant. Guidance that reflects how care actually works here — which tests are available, which programmes are free, and what a condition looks like in an Indian population.
What HealthWiky deliberately does not do
- We do not diagnose. No symptom checker on this site will tell you what you have. Only a doctor who can examine you can do that.
- We do not give dosage advice. You will not find “take two tablets twice a day” anywhere here. The right dose depends on your body and your history, and it is a prescribing decision.
- We do not invent content. Doctor profiles, hospital phone numbers and patient stories appear only once verified. Where we cannot verify something, the page says so rather than showing a guess.
- We do not present home remedies as cures. Traditional remedies are clearly separated from medically established treatment.
Corrections
If you find something on HealthWiky that is wrong, out of date or unclear, please tell us. Health information that is wrong causes real harm, and we would rather hear about it than not. Write to help@healthwiky.com or use the contact page.
