રોગો
અસ્થમા (Asthma)
અસ્થમા (Asthma) એ એક લાંબા ગાળાની સ્થિતિ છે જેમાં શ્વાસનળીઓમાં બળતરા થાય છે અને તે સાંકડી થઈ જાય છે, જેના કારણે સિસકારો બોલવો (wheezing), ઉધરસ આવવી, છાતીમાં જકડન થવી અને શ્વાસ ચડવો જેવી સમસ્યાઓ થાય છે. યોગ્ય ઇનહેલર (inhaler) વડે તેને નિયંત્રિત કરી શકાય છે.
આયર્નની ઉણપથી થતો એનિમિયા (Iron Deficiency Anaemia)
એનિમિયાનો અર્થ એ છે કે શરીરમાં ઓક્સિજન પહોંચાડવા માટે લોહીમાં પૂરતા પ્રમાણમાં તંદુરસ્ત લાલ રક્તકણો (Red blood cells) નથી. ભારતમાં આયર્નની ઉણપ એ આનું સૌથી સામાન્ય કારણ છે.
એસિડ રિફ્લક્સ (GERD)
એસિડ રિફ્લક્સ ત્યારે થાય છે જ્યારે પેટમાંથી એસિડ પાછું અન્નનળીમાં આવે છે, જેના કારણે છાતીમાં બળતરા થાય છે અને મોંમાં ખાટો સ્વાદ આવે છે.
ચિકનગુનિયા (Chikungunya)
ચિકનગુનિયા એ વાઇરસથી થતો ચેપ છે જે ડેન્ગ્યુ ફેલાવતા દિવસના સમયે કરડતા મચ્છર દ્વારા જ ફેલાય છે. તેનું મુખ્ય લક્ષણ સાંધાનો સખત દુખાવો છે, જે તાવ મટી ગયા પછી પણ અઠવાડિયાં કે મહિનાઓ સુધી ચાલુ રહી શકે છે.
ટાઇફોઇડ તાવ (Typhoid Fever)
ટાઇફોઇડ એ દૂષિત ખોરાક અથવા પાણીથી થતો બેક્ટેરિયાનો ચેપ છે. તેના કારણે તાવ આવે છે જે દિવસને દિવસે વધતો જાય છે, સાથે પેટમાં અસ્વસ્થતા અને અતિશય થાક લાગે છે.
ટાઈપ 2 ડાયાબિટીસ (Type 2 Diabetes)
ટાઈપ 2 ડાયાબિટીસ એ લાંબા સમય સુધી રહેતી એવી સ્થિતિ છે જેમાં શરીર ઇન્સ્યુલિન (Insulin) નો યોગ્ય ઉપયોગ કરી શકતું નથી, જેથી લોહીમાં સુગરનું પ્રમાણ ખૂબ વધારે રહે છે.
ટીબી (Tuberculosis - TB)
ટીબી (Tuberculosis) એ બેક્ટેરિયાથી થતો ચેપ છે જે મોટે ભાગે ફેફસાંને અસર કરે છે. જ્યારે ફેફસાંનો ટીબી ધરાવતી વ્યક્તિ ખોંખારો ખાય, છીંક ખાશે અથવા બોલશે ત્યારે તે હવા દ્વારા ફેલાય છે, અને દવાનો પૂરો કોર્સ કરવાથી તે મટી શકે છે.
ડેન્ગ્યુ (Dengue)
ડેન્ગ્યુ (Dengue) એ ચેપગ્રસ્ત એડીસ મચ્છર (Aedes mosquito) ના કરડવાથી ફેલાતો વાયરલ ચેપ છે. તેનાથી અચાનક સખત તાવ આવે છે, શરીરમાં અસહ્ય દુખાવો થાય છે અને કેટલાક લોકોમાં પ્લેટલેટ કાઉન્ટ (platelet count) ઘટી જાય છે.

The commonest clash in Indian homes is taking two products that both contain paracetamol. The next is adding a painkiller on top of blood pressure tablets or a blood thinner.
Taking Medicine While Fasting
If a doctor has prescribed a medicine, keep taking it during a fast. Skipping blood pressure, thyroid, epilepsy or heart medicine for a day carries a real risk, and no fast is meant to put you in danger.
What OD, BD, TDS and HS Mean on a Prescription
OD means once a day, BD twice a day, TDS or TID three times a day, QID four times. PC means after food, AC before food, HS at bedtime, and SOS only when you need it.
